    I know this is an old thread but just to clarify, I have a similiar rig to Digby and was experiencing identical Freezes and Power Downs. Usually when watching HQ Video or Browsing.
    I too changed my GPU recently to the 1070 and not one issue.
    My older GPU a GTX 8800 had been in from build in 2007 so that was probably misfiring or overheating in Win 10.
    Happy Days.. I just need to upgrade now to really test the awesome new GPU!
