If the laptop shuts off upgrading through Windows Update and using the media creation tool, I really don't know what to say. There is one other way to upgrade, but I don't know if the outcome would be any different. Maybe someone else will post a suggestion. If you want to try upgrading using a Windows 10 ISO file, let me know and I will try and help you.

Ok, the first thing to do is download and install 7-Zip. If your copy of Windows is 64-bit, then download and install the 64-bit version of 7-Zip, same thing if it's 32-bit.

    Download

Next download the Windows 10 ISO file

    Windows 10 ISO

Next create a new folder on the Desktop. Name it anything you like. After the Win10 ISO is downloaded, place it in the new folder you just created. Right click on the Win10 ISO. Place the cursor on 7-Zip. A new menu will come up, choose Exract Here. After the files are exracted, double click on Setup.exe to start the upgrade..

If you have any questions, just ask.

Don't forget, when you start the upgrade, do not install updates. Choose Not Now or Skip. Read each screen carefully.

It makes a difference what Windows 10 ISO you choose. To be sure you get the right one, download and run ShowKeyPlus. That will tell you what version of Windows 7 you have installed now. Also I believe when you choose the language, British English is International English.

It makes a difference what Windows 10 ISO you download. You have to match the version of Windows 7 you have installed. To be sure, download and run ShowKeyPlus. That will tell you exactly what version you need.

You have to download the Windows 10 ISO from the link I posted. Place it in the folder you created on the Desktop. Right click on the ISO and put the cursor on 7-Zip from the menu. A new menu will pop up. Then click on Exract Here.

It's not that you need the key, you need to look at the Product Nane. If it says Windows 7 N, then you need to download the Windows 10 N iso. If the is no letter after Windows 7, then download the Windows 10 ISO with no letter after it.

Don't plug in you flash drive or create install material. Part way down the page clich the little download arrow next to Windown 10. Click on which ISO you want to download, then click Confirm, then you choose 32-bit or 64-bit and click Confirm, next you language and click Confirm.

I see what you are talking about. The link I posted looks different. I was using my iPad to answer your questions. I think that's why.

Go to this page and download the Windows 10 ISO. Follow the steps I posted above.

    HI

Its just windows 10 home premium I have
The pic of the window that I have up and attached , there is no download arrow next to windows 10 .

On the download in the folder on the desktop there was a media creation tool and a little arrow when I right click that , below 7_Zip there is CRC SHA and an arrow, go across there and there is CRC-32 CRC-64 SHA-1 SHA-256 not sure what they are should I have clicked CRC-64 ?

I HAVE JUST FOUND THE ISO FILE ON THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE SO I AM NOW DOWNLOADING IT , IT WILL TAKE 4 HOURS ITS 4.2GB , CAN I LEAVE IT TILL TOMORROW ? IF I DO WILL I LOSE THE WINDOWS 10 FREE , DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD JUST LEAVE IT OVERNIGHT TO DOWNLOAD , WHAT DO YOU THINK .
