Windows 10: Windows 10 - USB Ports and Car Slots Keep Disconnecting

I have a Microsoft Surface Pro 7 with an external USB A port and a micro SD-card port on the back. I use both of these for extra storage, with the SD-Card used as the secondary drive e.g. D:\. The problem is that both of these ports randomly drop the connection the drive disappears from explorer. I can reconnect by either unplugging the drive form the port/slot and reconnecting it, or re-starting the computer.I have cleaned all of the contacts and used different drives/cards with no apparent change in the way this works. A USB port is a standard cable connection interface for personal computers and consumer electronics devices. If you're using USB 2.0 port for you to upgrade to USB 3.0 port you
need an available PCI or PCI Express expansion slot. To provide you the accurate resolution, kindly answer the following questions:

• Are you getting any error messages?
• When you mentioned Windows 10 update, are you referring to USB drivers update?

If you're referring to USB driver update, we suggest that you return to the previous version of driver you have. The Roll Back Driver feature enables you to replace a device driver by using a previously installed version. You can use this feature if you
have installed a new device driver that causes your computer to be unstable. When you use the Roll Back Driver feature, you can restore (or roll back) the previous device driver, and continue to use the computer.

To use the Roll Back Feature, kindly follow these steps:

• Start Device Manager.
• Double-click the device for which you want to restore the driver.

Ok, let's see it with pictures step-by-step. First right-click on the USB device and select Update driver software:





Then select Browse my computer for driver software (LAST option) :





The select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (LAST option) :





Then select the standard driver from the list and click next:





Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.
