Windows 10: Windows 10 uses 100% of harddisk

With the last couple of updates, i see that my HDD usage is 100% on my primary HDD, even when only Task Manager is running. I have searched online and disabled Windows Search and SysMain. It help for awhile, but i am back at square one. With each update or roll back had to roll back because I could not log into my user account, i have to disable Windows Search and SysMain. All my drivers is up to date, I even did a Scan Disk.


In Task Manager, there is multiple instances of the following as well:.

3. Host Process for Windows Tasks
4. Kaspersky Secure Connection
5. Microsoft Compatibility Telemetry
6. MSS CS Connectivity Service
7. NVIDIA Container
8. Runtime Broker

10. Windows Console Host
11. Local Host: Local Service network Restricted
12. Local Host: Local System
13. Service Host: Network Service

It gets so bad, that my PC freezes up if I move between Outlook and Excel, or between different instances of Excel even.


Another problem is that I run a 32 bit machine, but Windows only uses 3.5GB of a total of 16GB of RAM, as can be seen in Task Manager.


I am currently on Evaluation copy.Build 20246.fe_release.201024-2009.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
