    Windows 10 v. 1607: What's this "Progress" window?

    Windows 10 v. 1607

I now have a window titled "Progress." It shows along with File Explorer when I hover over File Explorer. I have no idea where it came from, but when I go to close it, I get the following alert:
"This will cancel all files in progress" in the dropdown title and the alert: "Are you sure you want to cancel all transfers?" Well, as I have no idea what this is all about, I'm not about to do anything other than wait for an answer to this issue.

Don't know if this means anything, but I have noticed something new that is enabled on my Start-up...
HKCU:Run Once and it seems to be referring to OneDrive????

    :)

No, selecting "Details" does nothing. Furthermore, the Restore Down icon is greyed out. I left the computer in Sleep last night. On awakening, the File Explorer icon was still in the taskbar and when hovered over, this PITA was still there...with no apparent changes.

The only thing I can thing of is that the following were recently successfully installed: on 8/20 "feature update to W10, v. 1607," on 8/24 "Cumulative update to W10 v.1607 for x64-based systems (KN3176934)," and Update for W10 v.1607 for for x64-based systems (KB3176934)."

Doing a little more research, I found that there are problems with these updates (Windows 10 cumulative update KB 3176934 breaks PowerShell | InfoWorld), but I don't know enough to make any sense of it. However, I do see the recommendation to remove these updates. I'm not doing anything yet as I hope you will be able to offer me some guidance. And, if you do recommend that I remove these updates, I'd appreciate just a little help on how to do that...never removed an update before.

    Windows 10 v. 1607: What's this "Progress" window?

I don't have a fix ,just want to say I have seen it on one of my win10 computers a few times ,but it never stayed around ,not sure if it was my regular win10 or the win10 insider preview, I use them both daily so I'm not sure ,,

Good to know I'm not crazy...
BWT, my computer has been on for the last three hours and the issue is still there. Also, I inadvertently put the wrong version of W10 in my first post. I am running v1607, which, as far as I can tell, just has been successfully updated from my previous version; and this version is known to have problems.

Ah, I see great minds think alike (LOL) as I had just rebooted before I read your post. I said to myself..."What the hell, reboot and see what happens." The troublesome "Progress" is gone. I'd still like to know where it came from, but don't have the knowledge to do so. So, I'll just be happy that it is gone and as far as I can tell, W10 is working fine....

    That's good news.

You could have the free program DiskMon running in the background to log all hard disk activity. If it happens again, hopefully the log may reveal what it's from.
