Windows 10 (V:9926) Hangs On Install (MS Virtual PC)

    Hello there!
I am a Windows 7 user and as soon as I found out that users of 7 and above could get the Windows 10 upgrade for free, I immediately downloaded an ISO image to boot and install with.

For now, I like my PC as is so anything that comes to testing, I use Microsoft Virtual PC. I have used countless ISO images in the past to install with VPC, all of which have worked. I'm having a particular problem with Windows 10 installing on my virtual PC.

I downloaded the 64-bit version of the ISO from the Microsoft website.. (Forgetting that my VPC only handles x86 versions, even though my host PC is a 64-bit machine!*cry) I loaded up the ISO and got the error that is displayed in the first image. I figured that I should go ahead and download the x86 version, so I did. I got yet another error.

Only this time, it would just hang on the first screen (The black screen with the blue Windows 10 logo...) Any users of MS Virtual PC would know that if something is going on, the hard drive icon would flash in the bottom left hand side, this wasn't happening. Neither was the CD icon doing anything. I have tried completely deleting the VM and starting again, no luck. Images of the disk/CD activity is down below...

    Help please?

-. (Call me Tamz or Tammy if it is easier for you *Smile

  2. Hyper-v vs virtual xp in windows 7 professional

    Andre:

Just to be clear on what you've said:

Are you saying that the current way that I install a Virtual XP machine (through windows 7's virtual PC function) must be replaced through the use of Hyper-V ? ...or are you saying that I can't install a virtual xp machine at all in Windows 10 even with
    Hyper-V?

I am hoping that what you are saying is the former...and that I can have XP installed in windows 10, but in a different way with Hyper-V than as with Virtual PC in Windows 7....?.

BSOD when running VMWare Player after Creators Update

After Creators Update installed, I had to manually disable Hyper-V (even though Hyper-V is not installed in Windows Options - Thanks MS), in order to get VMWare player to recognize virtualization and allow 64-bit machines to operate again.

However, after a few minutes of operation, I get the standard MS BSOD 0xe0000001 for item vmx86.sys, the needed driver for virtualization.

    Windows 10 Pro 64-bit OS, x64-based processor

    8 GB Ram

    Any ideas?

Are you sure it's hanging? It takes a LONG time to install and stays on that screen for a long time.... 20-30 minutes sometimes...

Mystere (Nice name by the way!) I'm sure it's hanging, as I'm getting no disk activity or any sign that it's still doing something.
Also, Banger, I will download a fresh copy of the 32-bit version and try again with Virtual PC. If not, I'll try your suggestion. I'll post back with some results tomorrow, thanks everybody *chuckle

    Hi there.

Virtual PC is really OLD now --I'd get rid of it and install W10 in a VMware player (free) VM. Works much better.

Note -if you choose vmplayer 7 (latest version) it IS still free for home users but will only run on x-64 bit machines. (You can install x-86 guests though). Otherwise use release 6.

    Cheers
