Windows 10 v1909 did not update time properly after Daylight Savings Time change

Why did my OS not update the time properly for daylight savings time?

I had to manually turn off and then turn on the "set time automatically" in order to update the time from 1146 to 1046. The time zone information did reflect the change i.e. it showed I am now in UTC-5, but the actually time was an hour off. Other information that might have affected this was my PC was turned off October 30th and turned on this morning.

A screenshot of my settings are below.

  2. Windows 10 Daylight Savings Time Not Working

I've tried doing this (Windows 10: Daylight Saving Time Adjustment not working)
several times on three different machines (they're all having the same problem), but it doesn't work.

    Here's what I do:

    - Go into Date & Time - see both "auto adjust" and "set daylight savings" is off

    - EITHER set daylight savings time to adjust, or auto adjust, and see that it is set

    - If I do auto adjust time, it resets "set daylight savings time" to be off

    - If I leave auto adjust off, but daylight savings to on, then click away, and click back, daylight savings is still off

My machine is fully updated, Windows 10, and I'm in PDT.

    Suggestions?

Windows 10 Daylight Savings Time Button Grayed Out.

    Hi Gary,

This issue may happen if your region or time zone doesn't observe Daylight Saving Time (DST).

To check if DST is available, follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + S.
    • Type Control Panel and press Enter.
    • Select Clock, Language, and Region.
    • Click Date and Time.
    • Under Time zone, check if there's any indications regarding Daylight Saving Time.

We'll keep an eye out for your response.

    Daylight Savings Time

Make certain that you are in fact set in the correct time zone and it is set to use Daylight Savings time. If it is all set that way, correct the time setting. Then

    1. click once on the time on the bottom right corner
    2. Choose change date and time settings (you will see the time zone setting currently in use there)
    3. Click the Internet time tab
    4. Click change settings
    5. Choose a synchronizing clock (I use time-b.nist.gov
    6. Click Update now
This setting by default will check your time once per week and synchronize it with that clock. It works very reliably unless your time is somehow way off or you CMOS 2032 battery needs to be replaced.
