    Windows 10 ver. 2009 update stuck at 98% for hours - 2nd attempt


    Toshiba Laptop/ Intel Core i3 4rth Gen/ 1.70GHz/ 8GB Memory/ Samsung SSD running version 2004 without issues


    Downloaded the Update Assistant, the process started smoothly with the download and with the upgrade but both times the update reached 98% and 99% the first time and stuck there for many hours. Had to abort.


    Any clue as to why?


    Drivers are updated regularly both manually and with Driver Booster application, the health of the system was checked before the update sfc /scannow, 3rd party Malware app disabled for the update.

    Windows 98 and ME no longer updatable...

    Quite right, XP is still listed in technet. Win 98 unfortunately isn't. Windows 3.1 and 3.2 are listed though.

    When in win10:
    • Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....
    Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
    - Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.
