Windows 10 version 1709 Advanced Display Settings missing?

This has been addressed in the past. I'm wondering if there is a fix?

Apparently Windows 10 Version 1607? has " Advanced Display Settings" and with version 1709 it's now missing from "Display" and perhaps the entire Windows Windows 10 OS?

I think it was completely removed by Microsoft in Windows 10 ver. 1709?

    2 PC version history

    2.1 Version 1507
    2.2 Version 1511 (November Update)
    2.3 Version 1607 (Anniversary Update)
    2.4 Version 1703 (Creators Update)
2.5 Version 1709 (Fall Creators Update)
    2.6 Version 1803
    2.7 Version 1809

I'm running Version 1709 (OS Build 16299.248) and after searching high and low haven't been able to find Advanced Display Settings

Google search for Advanced Display Settings

In Windows 10, you can no longer change the text size of a specific item. To change your screen resolution, use the drop down menu under Resolution. To adjust your color calibration, search "calibrate display color" in the search box of Settings and follow the directions. Aug 30, 2017

I have application and small utilities such as a Password App without anyway to change the font sizes in the apps. So the applications and utilities become very difficult to read.

    :)

  2. Bold font option in Windows 10?

    Hello David Haz,

Would you please tell us what Version and Build of Windows 10 you are using to follow the instructions you are giving?

I am on Windows 10 Version 1709 (OS Build 16299.125).

Your instructions fail at step No. 2 - there is no Display to click, no
Advanced display settings to click, no Advanced sizing of text and other items to click, and no window that pops up, allowing one to change the size of the text to one's desired setting.

This was possible in Windows XP, Windows 7, and ,I believe, some earlier versions of Windows 10, but it is possible in my Windows 10 Version 1709 (OS Build 16299.125).

So I ask you again, what Version and Build of Windows 10 are you using to follow the instructions you are giving?

And to Meliton Dec, who marked your reply as the "ANSWER", what Version and Build of Windows 10 are you using as well?

  3. Feature update to Windows 10, version 1709 broken my display resolution, adapter: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4300

After installing "Feature update to Windows 10, version 1709" my display resolution was set to 1024x768 that is not natural for my laptop.

My laptop is "Dell Inspiron 1545", adapter: "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4300".

List of correct values contains only "1024x768" and "800x600", but my laptop's native resolution is "1366x768"

I had this issue earlier and saw that it was caused by Windows Update "Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. - Display".

When I was reverting this update - resolution "1366x768" was appearing back.

But now I could not revert this update and option to rollback driver in device manager disappeared as well.

When I'm checking for updates - it says that my driver is up to date, but I don't need up to date version of this driver.

I need to install previous version somehow.

The only solution that I have found for now is to cancel entire update "Feature update to Windows 10, version 1709", so I returned to older version of Windows 10, and here I will have option to roll back this driver every time it will be updated again.

But this is not good long term solution, as Windows Update keeps reminding me that this version is available.

How can I update to "Feature update to Windows 10, version 1709" but prevent "Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. - Display" driver update?

Windows 10 version 1709 Advanced Display Settings missing?

I found this post which lists manual configure Advanced Display Setting from the registry using reg files.

Change Menus Text Size in Windows 10 Windows 10 Tutorials

These do work to varying degrees with some applications and utilities. Works with Firefox which can be changed from with Firefox menus both fonts and text size.

However it requires a reboot after each reg file merge to determine the correct font size and results.

Likewise, the DPI scaling has been removed, but can be set in the registry. Option Four in this tutorial...

Edit: no it hasn't been removed - my mistake *Redface

but I'll leave the post and link here because changing the DPI scaling may help make the OP's hard-to-read apps more legible.

*Redface Ooops, my bad. I've got so used to useful settings being removed that I automatically read the tutorial note "This option is only available starting with Windows 10 build 15019" as 'This option is not available starting with Windows 10 build 15019."

    (sorry)

    Hey Mike, *Smile

Starting with Windows 10 build 17063, you would see the "Advanced scaling settings" link instead of the "Custom scaling" link.

Windows 10 version 1709 Advanced Display Settings missing?

Ok, this means from version 1709 (any build) and beyond one will need to use reg files except for custom scaling?
