Windows 10: Windows 10 Version 1803 / importing photos from SD card

Ever since I upgraded to Windows 10 Version 1803 in June, I can't import photos from SD card. It doesn't see any photos on the card, but they are there (appear OK in my camera). Originally this machine had Windows 7, but was upgraded to 10 prior to the V. 1803 upgrade (if that's significant).

Have Googled and read many things suggested by many people (including Microsoft Community) none of which seem to work for any of them - or me - for the ones I've tried. Is there a bug in V. 1803 pertaining to this? It used to be so simple (click on photos, click import, it would see them on the card, click / check boxes on the new ones to import and done!) and now hours and hours wasted over several days trying to figure out what changed or went wrong w/ the upgrade.

Import photos from SD Card in Photo Gallery using Autoplay

Hi,

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Type Autoplay Settings in the Search box and press Enter.
• Under Choose Autoplay defaults, select the option required from the drop down list for
  Removable drive and Memory card and close the Window.
• Restart the system and check for status.

I suggest you to try importing the photos using photo app as below and check if it helps.

• In the search box type photo.
• Click on the photo app.
• On the right hand top corner click on import option.
• Before that you need to plug in SD card where you have saved the photos.

Importing Pictures from SD card


I can't get the Photos app to import pictures from my SD card reader. For a while I had Live Photo Viewer as the default import action (can't remember how), but I'd quite like to get it working with a default app. I note that when I right click on my SD drive, I don't get the option to Import photos and videos

Any suggestions?

1) How you have connected the SD card into your computer?

2) Is your SD card getting detected in the computer?

3) Do you receive any error message, while trying to import the photos from SD card?
