Windows 10: Windows 10 (Version 1903) HP printer driver and compatibility advice

Hi all,

I bought a new Lenovo Laptop (V145) with the 1903 version of Windows 10 Pro on it a few months ago. This was bought to replace an Acer laptop (Windows 7) that I disposed of due to not working properly.

I have tried to use a HP 2620 Deskjet printer with the laptop without success. I bought the printer a month or so ago after not being able to use my old printer with the laptop (the old printer was an HP that I previously used with the Windows 7 laptop mentioned above).

I have downloaded and ran all the HP drivers on their site for the new printer and looked for other advice including trying to set the printer up with a USB cable instead of via the wireless method.

I have got further and further but eventually the adding the printer option still says 'failed' after attempting to try something else.

The computer fully realizes that there is a printer there and which one it is (the only one in the house) and tries to connect to it but it always fails.

Could anyone recommend a solution to this (such as a driver downloadable from another site) or provide a list of printers that are known to work very well with the Windows 10 version I have so that I can go out and buy a more suitable printer.

I would suggest you to please refer to the manufacturer’s website regarding the availability of compatible printer drivers to the above mentioned devices to run on Windows 10 operating system on the computer.

Refer to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads
website to check for the compatible device drivers.



If the manufacturer has not released any compatible device drivers, install the printer drivers in
Compatibility mode and check if it helps.



Compatibility mode runs the program in the current version of Windows using the settings from previous version of Windows. Follow the steps suggested in

Thank you for being a part of Windows 10.



What is the exact model of your HP Printer?

As Windows 10 is the new operating system, the drivers for HP 2540 should not available. I would suggest you to uninstall the drivers and re-install the drivers for the printer in compatibility mode.

HP Printer Driver not Compatible

I have followed may of the threads but I need a simple step process to get this HP 3600n Printer working on Windows10.

1. I have downloaded the driver required from HP Dot4Prt

2. Windows 10 recognises the printer in devices

3. Run install driver and Windows says incompatible

Arghh!
