Windows 10: Windows 10 Version 1909 - How do I tell if my PC is running this / Which version to update...

Hi, hoping someone can help.


I have just read a news article that states support for 'Windows 10 Version 1909' will be ending in May 2021, and that after this updates will no longer be available. It also advises that before this date you should upgrade to another version of Windows 10 otherwise you risk errors such as ending up with a 'Blue Screen' or non-functioning PC.


I am worried I will lose my PC. I don't have a clue about technical stuff on computers and have no idea what I am supposed to do.


All I know about my PC is that: It is a Compaq Laptop which has the following: IntelR Celeron R CPU B830 @ 180 Hz 180Hgz

4.00 GB

64-bit operating system, x 64 based processor




Edition: Windows Home

Version: 2004

OS Build: 19041.804

Windows Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0

Installed on: 05/11/2020


I have no idea if I actually will be affected or what I have to do next. I also have never installed Windows 10 myself. I have always bought my laptops with it already installed. I know that I will have to have to take it to my local specialist and pay for the installation of whatever new supported version I really am no good with understanding downloading things So which version should I ask them to install ?


I would much appreciate any advice and also preferable in simple' terms without too much technical PC jargon as obviously I will find that difficult to understand.

Update to Version 1909 Windows

Copy and paste of previous question because no one is answering. If you have ANY advice, PLEASE let me know. I've been trying for days. Even if your advice is contacting Microsoft staff via phone or whatnot.

When I try to update my Windows version to 1909 in "Check for Updates," it fails to update and tells me to try restarting every time. I've tried many solutions listed on the website as well as third party website and video solutions,
but nothing is working. The Windows 10 Update Assistant tool that also attempts to install the latest version (I want to use the XBOX Beta App) tells me that I am compatible for the update, but it also does not run and gives me the error code: 0xc1900107

Examples of what I've tried:

-Restarting my PC

-Attempting to factory reset but this does not work (runs into an error when attempting to do so)

-Troubleshoot (says no issues)

-Update Drivers (all up to date)

-Command Prompt checks (enabling and disabling, something about cat, etc.)

-Much more but I can't remember off the top of my head

Does anyone know how to update, because I really want to download the XBOX Beta App, but it requires the latest version of Windows. I've been trying all day to fix this (literally), and nothing is working. I appreciate
any and all help!

Windows 10 Version 1909 Update Fails with error 0x8007001F

Dear all,

constantly getting the message that the update to Windows 10, Version 1909 fails. Detailed message:

• Funktionsupdate für Windows 10, Version 1909
• Fehler bei der Installation am ‎11.‎04.‎2020 – 0x8007001f

I couldn't find a solution in the community, yet. Thus I'm asking for support.

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
