Windows 10: Windows 10, Version 2004 Update Fails Everytime

Hello.


I received the next version 2004 update around 2 weeks ago. The update downloaded itself though lights went off for a couple of seconds which caused internet to fail. When I resumed everything seemed normal and it installed it after downloading. I restarted so the PC could update but it worked on the update till around 71% and it restarted the pc and said 'Undoing Changes'. I thought this was probably caused by corrupt downloading that the internet cut made. I deleted all Download files inside SoftwareDistribution, restarted update protocols from CMD and pretty much resetted the update cleared whole cache as best as possible from given solutions. I re-downloaded it again but it was stuck on downloading at 0% and quickly went up to 100%, stood there for about 20 minutes and started installing. At each install it reaches up to 94% and stays for at least 30 minutes straight and moves quickly to 100% only to expect another restart. But then that update failed too. As of today in fact just minutes ago I've done the same thing for more than 10 times now and it failed the update every single time in the same way. I always restarted update, troubleshooted. The error code is usually 0xc1900101. I also tried the update assistant which again failed it.


I do not know what else to do. I decided to uninstall 1909 update to receive the whole updates again but then I've installed pretty important software since then so that's not possible. Are there any ways of getting rid of anything realating the update and make it clean & fresh. I'm pretty sure it's about a corrupt software/file in the update management. It says version 2004 and 20H2 sometimes. As of now, it says update 20H2 Download and Install. Though I know it won't.


Also as side note, I've read that the update is somewhere 5 GB. Though considering my internet, it would definetly take more than 2 hours to download but the download happens a lot faster than that. The fresh download took around 1 hour or even less.

I need help ASAP as the update keeps downloading-installing-restarting only to fail once again. Also I'm worrying about my CPU health as the install stage makes the fans spin crazy and CPU gets hot.

Windows 10 fails to update


When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

 

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
