Windows 10 very slow (in all aspects) after recent update

Hi, since last night my laptop has been awfully slow. I use it for work and about 95%+ of the time all I have open are:
    • 2 MS word files, if not word 1 excel file (I'm an analyst so that's pretty much all I use)
    • then a browser with about 4 to 8 tabs open (just websites for research mostly text with some photos or graphics)
    • 2 windows explorers to flip through different files

Last night things suddenly went bad and now I'm having difficulty working. Word is awfully slow when I type. I can instantly feel the lag with each keystroke.
Strangely, the web pages are also loading slow. I've tried edge, chromium, chrome and brave. But all are just showing me the spinning thingy just to load a simple page.

I've tried turning off windows defender real-time just to see but it doesn't help either. Even loading on startup takes a long time with the desktop icons turning all white for quite a bit before loading.

I'm not sure but things started to go weird after the update when explorer's search bar added a button. When I used it, if often makes explorer crash (i.e. not responding then close).
Then a more recent update maybe the day before yesterday made things worse, not sure what (it was a quick update) but things started bogging down more from there.

I've attached the task manager upon loading, I've 2 word instances open and the paint for screen shot copy paste of the task manager. Not sure why everything is like 100% or near 100%.

My machine is an Acer Aspire ES 13 running on Windows 10 Home/

Thanks in advance for all the help.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    • In Advanced Options; Click on “Choose How Updates are Delivered“.
    • Turn off Updates from more than one place.
Your system will not work as a seeder for other Windows 10 users. It will give sudden boast to your Slow internet speed.
