Windows 10: Windows 10 Video Editor - every storyboard tile looks the same

Hi!

This is a really annoying problem and figured asking here was worth a shot (I have found no solutions thus far). I had to get a new laptop earlier this year (a Dell running Windows 10) and have been using the built-in Windows video editor to practice editing basic videos (just for fun). But today, I went in to edit one of my projects and the whole storyboard only showed the same image (with blank, black tiles for the title cards that are supposed to have words on them). When I played it, it plays the right clip but the storyboard still only shows the thumbnail of the video it came from. Since I normally chop up videos into segments and rearrange them, this makes using the program really tedious and annoying because I always lose my place since every piece looks the same!

I have tried restarting the program (closing it and opening it up again), did nothing. I restarted my computer, the issue persisted. I started an entirely new project, it still does it! It makes me not want to use it anymore and I've been looking into other programs (nothing with too big of a learning curve). Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

Video Editor

I am using MS Video Editor and am working on a project that has both videos and .jpg pics. When I went to open the editor, the project would load, it shows the pics and videos I have loaded into the project, but the Storyboard wouldn't load. It looks
like the app is trying to load the storyboard, but after a few minutes, the app shuts down. I followed the steps online to repair and reset and have now lost my work, but I want to be sure the app is working properly and there are no issues with it before
I start and rebuild the project. Also, the app autosave my work, where does it put the saved Storyboard file?

 

Windows 10 Video Editor "select all" on storyboard???

I found that Control + A works for me on the Storyboard as long as you select one of the clips first, or click on the first clip and hold down the shift key to go to the last clip to select them all. Also, if you are changing the duration and you have some
movie clips in amongst the still clips they will be unaffected.

To then deselect the selection in the Storyboard you have to click anywhere outside the Storyboard; not very intuitive.

I have also found the Video Editor seems to be a little buggy at times and what should work does not. My fix when this happens is to close the Video Editor and then open it again and this usually fixes things. So if you are struggling to get a command to
work properly I think it is worth giving that a try.

Windows video editor problems - different video lenght between project library and storyboard

Good morning.

I have Windows 10 64 bits. I am using the windows video editor app.

I imported 2 videos to the project library. I added them to the storyboard and changed their speed and trimmed them to suit what I wanted.

After finishing the project and watching the final cut, I noticed that the second video was too short (0.47 seconds), so I wanted to fix it. Thinking that I might have trimmed it incorrectly I went to the project and storyboard and added from my library
the entire video again. This video was about 35 minutes. When I added it again, the storyboard showed the video as it was 0.47 seconds. I checked the speed just in case and it was x1, so it was not accelerated. It was just trimmed. I added the original video
to the project library just in case and use it again, but the same thing happened. The video got trimmed to 0.47 seconds once I added it to the storyboard.

I restarted the software to see if that would change anything, but it didn't.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong. If I had to guess, I would say that somehow there was a time limit set for the entire video forcing things to be cut down. But this is not something that happened to me before and I made longer videos with no issue.

Any advice would be greatly welcomed!
