  1. Windows 10 - Viewing in True 4K?

I run Windows 10 on a 4K LG monitor (3840x2160) and I have display scaling set to 150% in my display settings. Now Chrome reports its resolution as 2560x1440 (reported by a few different resolution checker websites). So seems like the scaling setting makes me lose some effective resolution at least in the browser. For the most part I don't care.

However, here's the problem. I'm a big fan of analog photography here on /r/analog and lots of people post their images in 4K+ resolution. I want to make sure I'm seeing those photos in Chrome in the full 3840x2160 - and not scaled down to 2560x1440. I don't want to download each image and open in another program outside of Chrome just to make sure I'm seeing 4K. I also would like to avoid the hassle of turning scaling off every time I'm doing a photo viewing session and then back on after. Because for the rest of the UI, of course it helps make things look easier on the eye. So what am I to do?

P.S. I am also a photographer myself. So just like the problem with viewing other people's work, a similar problem surfaces when I'm editing/viewing my photos. I'd like to make sure I'm seeing everything in 4K. I'm pretty sure Lightroom does that already. But maybe not the other parts of my workflow - for example Windows preview tool, IrfanView, Chrome as mentioned above etc etc etc. Just because I turned DPI scaling on for convenience, I don't want to be scaling myself down to 2560x1440 and losing out on seeing more pixels of my photo on-screen.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Does Miracast support 4K?

    Hello,

We suggest that you check with the manufacturer of the 4k display device that you are using if it is certified to work with Miracast. If your display device is certified to work with Miracast, then check if your PC device supports Miracast. You may do so
    by following the steps below:

    • Click Start, then go to Settings >
      Projecting to this PC
      .
    • Check if your device supports Miracast.

    Regards.

    Windows 10 - Viewing in True 4K?

displaylink (dynadock 4k) not working with windows 10 laptop

I have a Toshiba dynadock 4k with an external monitor but I cannot see this monitor listed in my Windows 10 laptop display settings and cannot make my display appear on second monitor.

DisplayLink website suggests this may be a Windows 10 issue.

How do I get this working?
