Windows 10: Windows 10 Volume Icon Disappears with Text Custom Scaling

When I set my text custom scaling to 110%, my volume icon is no longer displayed on the taskbar. The volume icon is displayed when I switch from 100% to 125%, but it disappears when I enter the custom size of 110% under the "advanced scaling settings".

I did check the taskbar settings and under the "turn system icons on and off" the volume icon is still switched to ON. The problem is that 100% is too straining for my eyes and 125% is comically large.


Any way to fix this?

I suggest you to follow the steps below to turn off and then turn on volume icon. Check if it helps.

Method 1: I recommend you to try to turn on the system icon for volume by following below steps.

1. Click on Search bar.

2. Type "Turn system icons on and off" without the quotes and click on it.

3. Turn off and then try to turn on the volume icon
from the list.

If the issue still persist, refer to the method below.

Method 2: Try to update the audio driver in the Device Manager and check if it helps.

1. Press Windows Key + R Key.

2. Then type “devmgmt.msc” without the quotes and hit on Enter Key.

3. Expand Audio inputs and outputs.

4. Right click on the driver and click on Update Driver Software.

Volume Icon missing Windows 10

Pretty "popular" and annoying behavior. Try these quick and easy fixes:

• 
  Check user settings first: Obviously, the Volume icon
  state should be "on", in "Turn system icons on/off" and "Select which icons appear on the taskbar".
  
• 
  Far less obvious, "Display / Change size of items / Set a custom scaling level"
  can create the volume icon to disappear. Reset it to 100% in the Control Panel and check if it is the cause. In this case, try different values (on my computer 110% is not good, but 115% is ok for some dark reason).
  
• 
  Going deeper:
  

• Use GPEdit.msc to check that no unwanted policy has been set: In User Configuration / Administrative Templates / Start Menu and Taskbar check that "Remove the volume control icon" state is "not configured"
  (and the other items should probably be in that state too). This is not doable on Windows home anyway.
• To reset the whole icons tray, launch RegEdit and delete values "IconStreams" and "PastIconsStream" in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion \TrayNotify, then reboot.
