Windows 10: Windows 10 waking my laptop from sleep with me disabling all I could for it not to happen.

So this is a well known issue, and with my laptop closed the heat build up can be quite high.


I've disabled Automatic Maintenance, adjusted my Power Plan, checked my BIOS etc. but still Windows will start up without me wanting it to. I will not use powershell or regedit or scheduling to fix something that shouldn't be there in the first place or alternatively have a clear way of disabling it.


If my laptop gets damaged from running with the lid closed, will Microsoft accept responsibility and compensate me?


I own this laptop and I decide when it's running or not, not Microsoft. The fact that there's no clear way to control this is bordering on being a hostage to this OS and this shouldn't be the case. It must have a way to enable/disable this function from a default disabled condition or better still, be disabled completely.


If Microsoft wants to control how my laptop runs, then send me a new laptop free of charge and you can do what you want. But as long as I pay for the laptop, and use a purchased PRO license I decide when the power is switched on or not.

Windows 10 -- Cannot disable the mouse from waking computer from sleep

Method 1

Follow the steps below to try to disable device to wake the computer:

• 
  Press Windows key + X.
  
• 
  Click on Command Prompt (Admin).
  
• 
  Type powercfg –devicedisablewake and press
  Enter.
  
• 
  Restart the computer and check if issue persists.
  

Method 2: Disable the Wake timers

Follow the steps below to Disable the Wake timers:

• 
  Press Windows key +X.
  
• 
  Click on Power Options.
  
• 
  Click on edit Plan Settings and click on
  Change advanced power settings.
  
• 
  Expand Sleep option and “Allow wake timers" and set this to
  disable.
  
• 
  Restart the computer and check if issue persists.

ASUS Laptop Won't Wake from Sleep Mode

Problem: about 80% of the time, my laptop won't wake up from sleep mode via keyboard press or mouse move/click. I seem to be missing many common features in power plan too, even after fresh Windows 10 install.

Troubleshooting Steps:

1. Reinstalled Windows 10 (clean)
2. Updated all drivers
3. Replicated on multiple Windows 10 versions, updates
4. BIOS latest version
5. No USB devices attached, ever. Only USB-C power and bluetooth mouse
6. Disabled "fast startup" in control panel

 

Dell Inspiron 3543 wake from sleep issue.

Below is my laptop details

Laptop Model: Dell inspiron 3543

OS: Win 10 Pro 64Bit (ver 1803) Build: 17134.345

BIOS ver: 05.06.05

Processor: i3

Ram : 8GB

HDD: 1TB

I am facing a issue related to wake from sleep, where when i put my laptop to sleep either manually or auto sleep set to 60min but when i try to wake it by opening the lid or pressing the power button there is no display ( this scenario is for short sleep
duration).

The 2nd scenario is overnight sleep where i manually put the laptop to sleep and morning when i try to wake the laptop the battery is drained or same as the 1st scenario no display.

In both the cases, i have to long press the power button ( Hard restart).

As per my observation, it might have happened after the recent Windows update KB4462919, KB4462930.

Steps taken to rectify the issue:

• BIOS Update - Speedstep disabled in BIOS and Fast startup from Power Option.
• Power option reset
• Hybrid sleep off and on
• Hibernate off and on
• Sleep Duration change
  
• Allow this computer to wake from sleep WIFI and Ethernet Disabled
• Disable modern/connected standby HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power --- CsEnabled set to 0
