    Windows 10 waking up after shutdown


    I came back from a 5-days vacation and I have found my main computer which I always shut down alive and processing the usual tasks that are usually run when I am supervising it. The rack cooler was off, since i was not there, and the temperature of the board and cards were at the limit. The power consumed during the five days was around 180 KWh.I wanted to check, so i have shut it down again not SLEEP, not HYBERNATE and, surprise, the next morning at 7am sharp it woke up. There was nothing to explain this, in the event viewer or in by running powercfg:C:\Windows\system32>powercfg -l

    Windows 10 won't wake up from prolonged sleep (or hibernate or shutdown) conditions

    Regarding your concern with Windows 10 not waking up after prolonged sleep, we suggest that you perform these steps:

    • Go to Control Panel > Power options.
    • Click Change plan settings for Power saver.
    • Click Change advanced power settings > Restore plan defaults >
      OK.
    • Restart your computer.

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    We suggest that you follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve the issues with the shutdown function of your laptop:

    • Type Troubleshooting in the search bar beside the Windows icon.
    • Select Troubleshooting from the results.
    • Under System and Security, select Fix Problems with Windows Update.
    • Choose Troubleshoot as an Administrator.
