Windows 10: Windows 10 - WARNING: Components hive failed load test and may be corrupt.

Hi.

My problems started when I tried to update Windows 10 with KB4134660 y KB4033631 and I received error 0x800703f1 for both of them. I tried to execute "Windows10UpgraderApp.exe" and the download and upgrade (from 15063 to 16299) process seemed to work fine but after reboot it shows that and error was found and it was necessary to return to previous version. I have retry this process several times but with same result.

Then I started to investigate this situation and finally I found that the "component store" was damaged:

The component store is repairable.

The operation completed successfully.


But it was repairable.
But when I tried to repair:

The configuration registry database is corrupt.

After this I was totally missed but I found this forum. I started to follow the "Windows Update Forum Posting Instructions" and found that sfc /scannow is reporting "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation". Then I downloaded sfcfix and this is the log output:

Windows 10 fails to update


When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

The BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO bug check occurs if the SYSTEM hive is corrupted. However, this corruption is unlikely, because the boot loader, checks a hive for corruption when it loads the hive. Here are some suggested resolution for this issue.

* Try booting into safe mode and then restart the OS normally. If the restart does not fix the problem, the registry damage is too extensive. Try the following steps:

• If you have a system restore point, try restoring to an earlier restore point.
• Reset your PC.
• Use installation media to restore or reset your PC.
• Use installation media to reinstall Windows.

What is the COMPONENTS registry hive in Windows\System32\config directory to be the keys name after being loaded in regedit ?
