    Windows 10 weird bug

Hi there, i am new to the forums and as such, i do not know if this is the right section to place my question, so i apologize in advance.
Here's the problem: some days ago my computer started freaking out when i turned it on, as in slow loading to a black screen with mouse, where i had to wait untill the login screen showed up and even sometimes it didnt. so i followed some steps and i reinstalled the windows 10 version, keeping the documents.
This did not work, unfortunately. It still happens, and it is becoming difficult to get it to work properly.
Nowadays, the same thing as described above happens BUT when/if i do get to my desktop, i can open firefox, files explorer, and other programs but NOT any of the taskbar options, such as wireless management, sound, notifications, and when i press either Start or Search, my screen freaks out, making everything disappear and becoming all gray(probably because of the background color) for 4 seconds or so, before coming back and showing a taskbar with only the start button and 1 or 2 options on the right. after a minute or so, the bar will be back to normal.
And yes, i have tried the most common solutions, including copy pasting some shenanigans to powershell in administrator, running different cmd commands such as scannow(or something like that)and checked for my graphiccs driver for updates, and found none.

This is extremely frustrating as i am in a period where my computer is essential to me. If you've got any tips, i'd love to hear them. I wanted to annex an image of what it looks like but i cannot use lightshot while it happens
EDIT 1: forgot to mention i can right click the start button and choose any option, such as control panel, task manager, etc.

    :)

Seriously, I don't know what creates this annoying bug. It's so annoying and happens at random. I can be watching my videos, reading an article and all of a sudden, my desktop is greyed out and the main running windows is duplicated or cloned out and every
thing that happens on that main windows shows on the other duplicated window including.. just watch this video and you'll see what I'm talking about. It's been happening for months between builds and not of them fix it. I just did a clean install as well so
    its not that.

    Windows 10 weird bug

Hi, welcome to tenforums. I understand you have installed or upgraded to win 10, and done an in place repair install, and run sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt.

Can you confirm when you did the latter no corrupt files were reported?

Please complete your system specs as this may help someone to help you.

Please try a clean boot and advise the outcome.

If things work normally, it's something you have installed.

    Also please run chkdsk e.g.

    Ok, you can try
    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth/

"If SFC is unable to repair corrupted system files because the store (source) is corrupted, then you could run the Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command to fix Windows component store corruption, then afterwards try running the SFC scan again."

While I'm not nearly as knowledgeable as a lot of folks around here, it seems to me that if sfc /scannow returned corrupted files AFTER an in-place reinstall that there was a problem with the ISO (or whatever media the OP used) for the reinstall?

If DISM doesn't work, I would suggest grabbing a fresh copy of the latest ISO available and attempt another reinstall. It might actually be easier (and faster) than trying to track down the specific problem.

Also, I wanted to suggest ensuring the OP has confirmed all the latest drivers are installed for the system and to allow Windows to update during the reinstall process.

    I hope it works out!

    Windows 10 weird bug

Doverboy: - just wondering- have I missed where Pedrospr stated he'd done an in-place repair install?
"it seems to me that if sfc /scannow returned corrupted files AFTER an in-place reinstall"

Pedrospr: please try what I suggest, and if that doesn't work out the next action would seem to be an in-place reinstall.

As I understand it (Pedrospr please correct me if I'm wrong):
    1. Pedrospr either clean installed or upgraded to (we don't know which) Win 10.
    2. This worked for a time.
    3. The sthg went wrong as in first post (no possible cause suggested).
    4. Pedrospr has run SFC /SCANNOW and done some other things.

So far all we know since the first post is that SFC/SCANNOW failed, but chkdsk passed.

    Dalchina,

    My mistake. Sorry!

Thanks for pointing it out for everyone...

Like I said, I'm not as knowledgeable as others! Still, an in-place reinstall might be faster (with confirmed updated drivers, if needed).

    Be well!

It's fine.. we're all trying to help each other here.. Basically the SFC/DISM options are simpler and shorter than an in place repair which requires an installation medium (DVD/USB stick..) and not everyone has that.

So, if the problem can be fixed (with in this case a very limited history) with simpler steps, fine. If not, progress.. ultimately to a clean install.

hey there. i had also tried the dism thing before, to no avail. what i did on my computer was update to 10 ( as soon as it was available months ago), problem ocurred, i did the "reinstall" thing that showed up when i turned it off and on again to see if it worked properly(it was a blue window with a lot of options and that was one in one of the tabs if i recal correctly), which had an option to keep my documents, and problem persisted. i also just now unninstalled my graphics driver and reinstalled, with the problem still ocurring.

Hi, have you tried seeing what happens after a clean boot as I suggested some time back?

And what happens in Safe Mode?

Do try these before progressing to e.g. an in-place repair install, as the above should help to show whether you have conflicting programs or driver issues.

You can also try disabling all shellextensions (non-Microsoft) using shellexview (freeware).

    Windows 10 weird bug

Hey there. sorry i didnt try the clean boot or anything, but the problem fixed itself. for anybody having something similar, it fixed itself because of 1 of 2 things, either unninstalling and reinstalling my graphics driver, or the windows pro update.
i had the windows pro update trying to install since forever , but it always gave me errors, now that i had to install the driver, i also tried installing windows pro update, i pressed repeat when it said there was an error, and after 1:30hrs of waiting, it seems like i can open the start menu etc.
Thank you guys so much for the support. It made me feel more at ease knowing i could count on your support. hopefuly i won't have to post another thread, but if i do, it will be here. cheers!

Good.. now, next step... since you have a working scenario (make sure sleep, hibernate, restart, start menu, Cortana etc etc all work) get yourself a copy of either
Aomei Backupper or (more complex GUI)
    Macrium Relect (both free).

Install, create the boot CD and set your PC up so it can boot from a bootable CD.
You'll need a large external USB drive (e.g.) say at least 2x total size of what you're going to back up.

    Create your first disk image.

This is a complete compressed copy of whichever drives/partitions you have selected.
If sthg goes wrong- even if you need to replace the hard disk- you can then get your PC up and running again from that.

Then make incremental or differential backups (smaller, faster) before any major change and periodically.

You can also extract files from your backup should you wish.

This can save you a huge amount of time and frustration in the future- it only takes one small thing to make Windows unbootable.. and can save you from HDD failure.

To do sfc /scannow you'll a working bottable win 10 disk or usb. To make one just download a win 10 iso and for making disc: Imgburn or usb:Rufus (sorry cannot provide links because I'm on my phone)
