  1. Windows 10 Wi-Fi doesn't have a valid IP configuration

Hey boys and girls. If you are getting this error message whenever you try to connect your PC to your home wi-fi or a hotsport or tether to your smartphone, you may encounter this issue. It is a widespread issue which several users get. I found a solution which was posted by another user on this site but that forum being only 12 months old is locked.

Here's a solution which will work. You have to go into Command Prompt. Microsoft is bad with spamming us with regular updates which wastes our time and after the big monthly updates those updates introduce new problems and we have to go through the whole debuckle of troubleshooting, which involves reading long essays of how to troubleshoot.

Last night I had trouble tethering via cable and wi-fi my laptop to my Samsung S9. Microsoft should focus more on simplifying a hard reset on your network adapter rather than data harvesting and spamming us with broken updates or not being transparent with their service/software!

    Here's the solution which works:

Left Click on the Window icon at the bottom and type CMD

In the window that comes up at the top Right Click on the Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator

NOTE: A window will come up and ask if you want to allow this app to make changes to your device. Select YES to bring up the Command Prompt for the system32 commands

At the > prompt type in the following

    > netsh winsock reset <hit Enter>

    Then type in the following

    > netsh int ip reset <hit Enter>

    Restart the Computer

This should do it, but you can check by going back in to the shell and typing in the following to see if you are getting assigned an address again

    > ipconfig <hit Enter>

Microsoft needs to fix this and/or make it easier to look up.

Holy crow, it worked! Thank you!

    :)
