Windows 10: Windows 10 wifi works only after SSID change

Hello,


I have problem with my Acer notebook. This old laptop - model Aspire V 13. Some time ago I installed Win 10 upgrade 7 -> 10, but I have issues with connecting to wifi. Notebook can see my home network, but "Can't connect to this network". I tried all - restart network changes, update drivers, reinstall drivers, delete inf. about wifi's from registry. I tried to set up manually IP not from DHCP on laptop and router - cant connect. All YT videos and forum answers are the same.


There is only one thing that helps - renaming the router SSID. This helps for short time and I need to reconnect all devices in my home, so I need to find permanent fix. Anyone know how to help with this problem?

Wifi ssid dissapeares

Hi,

In that case, I would suggest you follow the below fixes one by one.

Fix #!

Step 1:

Open the Start Menu and click on Settings.

Step 2:

Click on Network and Internet.

Step 3:

Choose Wi-Fi from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen.

Step 4:

Click on Manage known networks.

Step 5:

Highlight the name of the network you want to forget (Make sure to find and delete the old SSID)

Step 6

Click on Forget.

Step 7:

Restart PC

Fix #2

Step 1

Right-click on the Start Menu and choose Device Manager.

Step 2

Expand the list below Network Adapters.

Step 3:

Right-click on your network adapter.

Step 4

Select Properties.

Step 5

Click on the Power Management tab.

Step 6

Unmark the checkbox next to Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

Let me know the status after performing the above.

WiFi USB Dongle SSID

The SSID is the network name/number identification given to the router/access point you are trying to connect to.

The network name can be almost anything, depending on what the user or person who set up the router/access point decided to call it. There would be settings in the router to change the SSID and for whether or not to broadcast that name. If it is set to broadcast
the name it should be visible to your WiFi dongle and show up when you click on the Windows network icon in the notification area on the desktop.

If you are using a RAlink utility to manage your WiFi connections you'll have to check in the user manual/help for that product.

 

Windows 10 WIFI ssids

Hi,

In the windows 10 all editions, in the task bar, when you click on the wifi icon its just showing the available wifi ssids.

It will be better if they show whether its secured or unsecured with a small lock icon close to the SSID name.

By having this we can easily identify which one is secured and which one is unsecured.

This will be really useful.
