If you’re one of those quaint people who still uses ‘physical media’ to install new versions of operating systems, Windows 10 could have a big shock in store for you: USB drives replacing the clunky old reinstallation DVDs of yore.

PC fails to boot after Windows 10 Upgrade. Can I manually roll back to previous?

Andre, Sumit, many thanks for your replies.

I have downloaded Windows 10 using the Media Creation Tool and created a bootable installation medium. I can re-install Windows 10 using this medium. However, Windows was originally installed on this PC using a Windows DVD which has been lost. Will I need
    to purchase a new license?

Finally, there has never been any problem with this PC until Windows tried to install this particular update. After spending hours, possibly days, re-installing and re-configuring windows, will the same update kill my Windows again?

  3. Does the N95 finally kill my loyalty to Nokia?

The N95 8gb was the best phone I ever had, never had a single issue with it.

Hopefully the repair or swap will sort your issues out.

Having said that, my N97 is probably my last Nokia now that Android phones seem to be making decent progress.

Fine with me, that's how I do my installs. The only thing I use my optical drive for these days is installing DRM protected games.

Except that the last line of the article kills the whole thing:

That said, this isn’t the final farewell for DVDs: you’ll still be able to buy Windows 10 on DVD.

Yea, I mean why use a much less expensive DVD disk to store backup software when you can spend more for a USB thumb drive?

You can also hang them in the window, so birds don't fly into it and break there necks(that's what cats are for*really)

  9. Depends on how many DVD's your using. I'd much rather have it all on one thumb drive than 2, 3 or more DVD's. Thumb drives aren't that expensive anyway. Not in the smaller sizes. DVD's are a lot easier to damage too. And just about every PC on the planet has at least one USB port. It's a lot easier to carry a thumb drive in your laptop bag than a bunch of DVD's. It's also a lot easier to redo whats on the thumb drive over and over and over. DVD, burn once, throw away. I will agree, if all you need is one DVD for long term storage it's a good option.

Modern flash drives make the installation much faster than the old DVDs.

  14. You have to watch those fortune tellers. Some of them old ladies are Ninja. They learned to read tea leaves while mastering the Tea Ceremony(tm).
