Windows 10: Windows 10 will not activate after motherboard/cpu swap - computer is in microsoft account

I did not reinstall or change my Mass Storage Devices. So I have the exact same OS installed with the same Microsoft account signed in. hookinh up old motherboard and processor again reactivates it The system will not activate windows even after fallowing the automated help that tells me to sign into my microsoft account. As you can see below it shows no devices at all. But when i am on the website I see 2 devices.... How do i fix this? I never gotten this stuck before. The online support loops back to the same article 3 times then i finally got to one with error codes and then it just ends

Microsoft account says I have a registered Windows 10 device but will not activate after motherboard swap

Hello! I just got a new motherboard and processor and I have attempted the following steps to reactivate my Windows but it will not reactivate. What can I do next?

• Attempted to activate via Activation screen in settings (no options to activate)
  
• Ran troubleshooter from Activation screen and the troubleshooter failed with code 0xc004f213
  
• Attempted to recover key from OS via VBS script (returned key was all BBBBB-BBBB...)
  
• Confirmed machine is listed under my microsoft account, where the key listed there is "default string".
  
• Ran through an additional online troubleshooter from Microsoft for this problem and it suggested i submit a ticket.
  

I'm not surprised that I've run into a licensing problem, as I upgraded in-place when Windows 10 conversions were free from Microsoft, from a very old version of Windows 7 which I acquired legitimately via university. I do not have access to the original Windows 7 key, nor did I receive a key for Windows 10 from the 7-to-10 conversion. That does not change the fact that the version of Windows was activated and verified before the motherboard change and the machine is still listed on my microsoft account.

 

Windows 10 not activated after motherboard swap

Hi,

I've ran into interesting problem after swapping out my computer's motherboard. The old motherboard contained a windows 8.1 pro key in the bios and the computer was upgraded to window 10 pro. After I swapped out the motherboard, the old one was fried, and
put the new one in, I can't activate windows anymore.

The new motherboard contains a new windows 8.1 key but is there a way to activate it? Or do i simply have to reinstall windows 10?

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown
