Windows 10: Windows 10 will not allow any MS Visual C++ under 10 to install?

On a computer that had a series of upgrades to the OS and is now on W10 i had a problem with a program and got to the point of uninstall/reinstall.

When i attempted the installation, each time it tried to install MS Visual C++ Runtime 2005 i got the dreaded 1935 error.


I finally got to the point that i thought if i uninstall ALL MS RunTime libraries, let the program i am fighting with (Nuance's PaperPort) re-install MS Visual C++ RunTime 2005, then reinstall all the other runtimes, i might have a solution. Nope.


So i downloaded all of the runtimes and tried individual installation. It seems that the current release of Windows 10 will not allow any MS Visual C++ Runtime Library prior to 2010 install, at least not on this computer. This is a problem.


I have tried shutting down updates, avti-malwares, firewalls,... but the curious thing to all those solutions i see posted on the internet is that MS Visual C++ Runtimes 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2017 install without a problem. This holds for both the x86 and 84 bit versions.


Other experiences or solutions?

YOUR SUGGESTION OF MS Visual C++ 2010, FIXED THE PROBLEM. ONLY "ATI OVERDRIVE" WAS NOT SHOWING IN CCC AFTER A 10-12 INSTALL.

Microsoft Visual 2017 C++ msi wont install.

Windows 10 installing progs

I decided to take the plunge and upgrade to windows 10 from 7. I used the Media Creation Tool from MS website. It took awhile, but I am finally running Windows 10 (12-14).

I opened the new App & Program feature to remove programs that I no longer needed. Scrolling down the list, I was horrified! Apps that I didn't install somehow magically installed themselves. Two programs stood out: Facebook and Candy Crush Soda Saga. Both programs have those tale-tale icons that they came from Windows Store (which I've never even opened). The install date for both of them were on 12-26.

Is this a common thing for Windows 10? Or is it because I did an upgrade and not a clean install?
