Windows 10: Windows 10 will not auto-play dvds with .vob format video files

Hello, I have numerous movie dvds in .vob format, containing file structure like


D:\VIDEO_RM\VIDEO_RM.BUP

VIDEO_RM.DAT

VIDEO_RM.IFO

D:\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.BUP

VIDEO_TS.IFO

VTS_something.VOB


where D:\ is my dvd drive.


When inserted into my Windows 10 system, my dvds used to autoplay fine, with any default video app = Movies & TV, or Windows Media Player, or VLC.


However, after some Windows 10 update, that stopped working. On insertion of a dvd, I now just get a popup saying

"Something happened on our end. Here’s the error code, in case you need it: 0x87E10BC6"

and then another popup saying

"D:\ File system error -2015294522.".


I have since tried a lot of things to try to fix this problem, and done extensive searches looking for solutions - to no avail.


I would appreciate any help to resolve this problem !

Trying to play and edit DVD Videos in VOB format (Win10)

If you copied your DVDs to your HDD just change the .vob extension to .mpg.

Trying to play and edit DVD Videos in VOB format (Win10)

Running Win10 Pro on my desktop and trying to edit some old vides I made and saved to DVD.

Pulled out some old family videos I created a few years back which are written to DVD in VOB format.

Now that I'm using Win10 Pro it seems I can't get them to play.
I have tried installing K-lite codex but still doesn't play.

I know I can use a 3rd party software to convert to something else but at the moment I just want to play them and edit them in Adobe Premiere Elements 2020.

Any video Editors out there?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 

Casting VOB files in Windows 10

I would like to inform the differences between ".vob" and ".mp4" file formats.

• VOB is a container format and MP4 is a video format.
• MP4 is compatible with more devices like iPad, iPod, iPhone, Android Phone and some tablet than VOB.
• The VOB movie files can be opened with DVD Player.
• VOB can contain digital video, digital audio, subtitles, DVD menus and navigation contents multiplexed together.
