Windows 10: Windows 10 Will Not Update + Thread Stuck In Device Driver

Hello,


I have a HP Pro Book 450 G1 Laptop that has 2 issues:

1. It is not taking/accepting the Windows 10 update.
2. Every now and again when I reboot, I get the error message, "Thread stuck in device driver"

I'm stuck on how to fix this.

Thread stuck in device driver

Run Hardware and Device troubleshooter by following the steps below, and check if the issue is resolved.

Step 1: Type Troubleshooter in the search bar next to
Start icon, press Enter.

Step 2: Select View all from the left side panel, and click on
Hardware and Devices option.

Step 3: Follow the onscreen instructions.

Thread Stuck in Driver

We appreciate that you have provided us the troubleshooting steps that you have done already. We can provide you other troubleshooting steps that can help to resolve the issue regarding the Thread Stuck in Driver error.

The Thread Stuck In Device Driver error is caused by a driver file being caught in an endless loop while it waits for the hardware to enter idle state. Performing a series of updates will usually resolve this issue and since you have updated your motherboard
BIOS as well as the graphics and audio drivers, you can perform the Windows updates. Here's how:

• Open Start Menu and click on Settings >
  Update & Security settings > Windows Update.
• Click on the Check for updates button.
• If any updates are available, they will be offered to you.

(Windows 10) Thread Stuck in Device Driver

Hi Vince,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. I suggest you to try the following methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: Update the drivers from device manager.

1. Right click on Windows logo and click on Device manager.

2. Expand Display drivers.

3. Right click on the driver and select Update driver software.

4. Now restart the computer and check if it helps.

Method 2: Boot the device to safe mode, uninstall the existing drivers, manually install the latest drivers from manufacturer's website and check if the issue persists.

Step 2: Steps to uninstall the drivers for the Display Adapter.

• Press Windows key + X key when you are at desktop.
• Select Device Manager.
• Expand Display Adapter.
• Right click on the Display Adapter
  and click on Properties.
• Under Driver tab click on
  Uninstall.
• Restart the computer.
