Windows 10: Windows 10 will only connect to the network sometimes

I am running Windows 10. The vast majority of the time when I turn the computer on, it will not recognize other computers on the network. This is a HUGE problem because many of my files are stored on a file server. I know that I am connected to the network, because I can use the networked printers, and I have internet access.


The error message I get when trying to access the networked PC's is:


"An error occurred while reconnecting to X: to \\xxxxx-pc\xxxx Microsoft Windows Network: The network path was not found. This connection has not been restored." (the x's are representative of network information I don't want on the internet).


I have used the Network reset function, which helped for a day, then the problems started recurring. I tried the network reset again, and it didn't help. My drivers are up to date, I've uninstalled and reinstalled them multiple times.


We have this issue with two PC's running Windows 10. Two other Windows 10 machines run and connect just fine. All of the Windows 7 PC's connect well. Both of the computers that have trouble reconnecting are laptops. The problem occurs whether they are connected to the network via WiFi or via network cable.


on the affected PC's, AVAST is installed and the Avast WiFi inspector sees all networked computers even when Windows 10 does not.


I have temporarily disabled all firewalls, and the problem persists without firewalls.


The problem is intermittent, but very frequent (almost constant)


Sometimes we can reconnect these PC's simply by restarting them multiple times until they finally reconnect.


I am at a loss. Please help.

Losing network connection

Hello Dear, if you have a laptop or a PC with a wireless network adapter, you can see a list of available wireless networks and then connect to one of those networks. The wireless networks will only appear if your PC has a wireless network adapter installed, the adapter is turned on, and the wireless access point is in range.

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.

2. In the left pane, under Network Tasks, click View available wireless networks.
In case, If you don't see the network you want to connect to, click Refresh network list. If you see the network but the signal is weak, move the PC closer to the wireless router.

3. Click the network you want to connect to, and then click Connect.

4. If you're connecting to a secure network, type the security key, and then click OK.

Can't connect to a network.

As you've mentioned, all your other devices were able to connect to the network except your computer. This issue may occur if there are other components that need to be configured properly or there are drivers that were not updated. To help you on this,
