Windows 10: Windows event sounds not working; all other sounds working fine.

For example, when I plug in or unplug a USB flash drive I no longer get the appropriate sounds.I went to "Change System Sounds" and the "Windows Default" scheme is chosen. When I choose an event with an assigned sound and click "test" no sound is made.*All* other sound works on the computer. I can play music/sound from a web page, VLC, or WinAmp. Music and sounds from games work fine.It seems only the Windows event sounds are disabled somehow.I tried rebooting with all my startup programs disabled.I tried changing the Sound Scheme to "No Sounds" and back.I tried an sfc scan sfc /scannow from

Recommend me a Sound Card (Windows 10)

Windows 8.1 drivers seem to work perfectly fine under Windows 10 for Sound Blaster Z (vanilla model).
