  1. Windows 10 Windows Mail

I am trying to set up windows mail on my Windows 10 computer. It installed, then I added a Yahoo! account. The mail program downloaded my contact list from my email account. I can see this clearly when I visit contacts, using the link at the bottom left of the calendar window. The whole list is there. My problem is that the program does not seem to be downloading any emails. I have checked all the settings available through the settings/manage account link on the calendar page. Sync options: email-on, calendar-on, contacts-on.

However, when I look at the app going through settings/apps/mail and calendar, there are 2 toggles set to off, and grayed out.

    location-off, email-off.

I have browsed through firewall settings, privacy and anything else I can think of that might be overriding the app's permission to access the internet.

I have tried the reset button.

    I have uninstalled using this command Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps | Remove-AppxPackage

I have re-installed from the store.

Possibly another clue is this. When I install the app from the store, I always get an error message:

"You'll need the internet for this. It doesn't look like you're connected to the internet. Check your connection and try again. 0x800704cf"

But, after awhile, I get a windows notification that the app installed successfully.

    Any help appreciated!

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
