Windows 10: Windows 10 - windows security service not running and real time protection off and greyed...

Hello,I fell foul of a program that was actually a package of viruses. I've since run eset nod32 online scanner which found over 40 threats, mainly trojans, and it's deleted them. But my PC has problems now.Windows Security service isn't running and the options to start, restart, etc., are all greyed out.Going to Windows Security just gives a blank window with nothing in the left-hand pane either:If I go to Virus and Threat Protection, I find everything is turned off and I cannot turn them on, the options are greyed out.I was getting red writing on this page, windows update, etc., saying somet

How do I turn off real -time protection?

If you have Windows 10, you are getting the latest antivirus protection with Windows Defender. Windows Defender actively helps in protecting your PC from malware (malicious software), viruses, and security threats. Windows Defender uses real-time protection.

To turn Windows Defender real-time protection on or off, follow the steps below:

• Select the Start button, then select Settings >
  Update & Security.
• Select Windows Defender, then turn Real-time protection
  on or off.

Window Defender's Real Time Protection is Greyed Out -- Help!!

Today I temporarily turned off Windows Defender's real time protection. When I tried to toggle it back on I couldnt. the setting is greyed out. What do i do?

Windows defender real time protection cant be turned on.

Go to Security and Maintenance, look in 'Security' and see what program is listed under Virus Protection. Windows Defender will not be enabled and functioning properly if there is a program other than Windows Defender listed.
