Windows 10: Windows 10: Windows Update does not update anything on my computer.

Whenever I bring up Windows Update, I see the message "Your device is missing important security and quality fixes." The window appears below.And, yet, when I "check for updates" there are never any updates. Winver shows me at "Version 1909 OS Build 18363.1556", so I'm clearly not up to date there either.My question continues after the Windows Update screen shot immediately below.For a couple of days, I saw a message that my version of Windows 10 will no longer be supported. That message has gone away without any feature updates, so I'm totally confused. I'm told

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.

Microsoft to make Windows 10 updates mandatory

Well, at the moment at least, you can choose to defer upgrades. Under Settings > Windows Updates > Advanced options you need to check the box labeled "Defer upgrades". What does that do? Good question. The answer I've found might illuminate it to a degree.

I hear this only applies to Pro and Enterprise editions. But I can't verify that.

 

Windows update again with Get Windows 10 app

Well there are a lot of computers where Get Windows 10 doesn't work. Maybe the update was attempting to fix those problems.
