Windows 10: Windows 10 with HP Jetdirect170x and HP Laserjet 2100 is it even possible to get this...

For my work I work from fhome I have a windows 10 machine and can't find any solution or driver to print from this machine via an HP jetdirect170x printerserver to a HPlaserjet2100All is working; In my homenetwork I have a working windows 7 machine from which i can print... yes; all very old but working & reliableP.S.I am considering to buy a replacement for my old windows 7 machine something with security issues.....does that implies the printer & printerserver is ready for the scrapyard?All the Hp Support site options doen'st work :- P.P.S. With an IP-scanner tool I can detect

HP LaserJet 2100 PCL6 support under Windows 10 x64?

Good news: the HP LaserJet 2100 PCL6 user mode driver is back (version 6.1.7233.0) with the November 2015 update of Windows 10 (aka version 1511 or build 10586)

Getting it requires a few steps. One way is to open the Device Manager, select Printers in the tree, and then pick Action / Add legacy hardware in the top menu.

A wizard will open. Select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list, then Printers.

Then pick the port the printer is connected to.

Then the "Add Printer" dialog should open.

At this time the HP 2100 PCL6 driver will not be listed... but you can now click on the "Windows Update" button in that dialog to retrieve additional drivers.

Wait for a while after clicking on the Windows Update button (easily 10 minutes). It might look like things are not working... but eventually the list of printers will expand.

You should now be able to find "HP LaserJet 2100 PC6" under "HP".

Pick that and you should be good to go...

 

Problem installing HP LaserJet 2100 Printer

I have an old HP LaserJet 2100 printer that has served me admirably. It is connected to my home network, wirelessly from router to a SONOS Connect, then with a cat5 cable from the Connect to the printer. It currently works fine
with my VAIO VGN-SR laptop with Windows 10 Pro.

I recently bought a DELL XPS 13 9365 laptop. It has Windows 10 Home installed.
I have gone through the Windows printer install process several times without success. Each time the installation routine searches but does not find the printer, but after telling it that it is an older printer, the printer appears. The search for drivers
initially does not show the correct one, but the option to expand the search delivers both a PCL 5 and PCL6 for the HP Laserjet 2100. After requesting an install, the process works for perhaps 5 minutes and finally delivers a message, "Not installed."

There is a current HP universal driver download for the LaserJet 2100, called
HP Printer Administrator Resource Kit
but it appears to be a complicated package for system managers that I haven't been able to understand.
I haven’t been able to find any clear instructions for just installing the drivers to my computer.

Can someone solve this problem? Thanks.

 

HP LaserJet 2100 PCL6 support under Windows 10 x64?

I have a new Windows 10 computer (ASUS ZenBook) just purchased a few weeks ago. I followed the steps above and was able to find the "HP LaserJet 2100 PC6" just fine, but when I clicked on it, windows goes off and tries to load it but never finishes. The
scroll bar just keeps spinning and spinning.
