  1. Windows 10 Woes - How to Restart

Got a brand new top of the line computer with a new copy of Windows 10 a little over a year ago. All was well. One day Cortana had a conflict with a program I was using at the time and starting sucking massive resources while on. I went through a large wiping of all "non-essential" windows services. Problem solved - for awhile. Over time it became clear I did something very wrong, and likely removed something I should not have. Or a virus. In any case - my windows environment is in a bad place. Tried to run Tron to fix - to no avail.

To keep it short - I lost Nvidia Control Panel - without which I lose two key features with my GPU - FPS cap above 60 and Gsync. I have spent days trying to recoup NCP and it ain't happening. Something is very wrong in the back end and it's not going to happen without a fresh install. Which is also a problem as Windows encounters an unspecified error when I try to reset Windows, either partially or fully.

Which leads me to the final problem - how do I format my windows drive without being able to do it officially anymore? I can answer any questions that are posed as I didn't want to type 20 paragraphs of information that isn't required.

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
