  1. Windows 10 won't allow programs to save to 2 specific hard drives.

I've just installed windows 10 for the first time. I previously had windows 7 installed on this computer.

When I try to save any files from a browser to a downloads folder I created on a particular hard drive I get a message saying "You don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission. Would you like to save in the downloads folder instead?".

First thing to note is this folder is linked to a folder on another hard drive. If I try to save to that drive I get the same error. I can save to any of the other hard drives without error.

I went into the security tab in properties on both drives and changed the user permissions for all user accounts to allow them to write. The folder properties said "read only" on both of the drives so I unchecked the box. I noticed that when I change one of the folders to not be read only the other folder reverts back to read only again.

I'm new to windows 10 so I'm not sure if I've done something wrong during the installation. I was forced to create a microsoft account but shortly after windows was up and running I changed it to a local account and deleted the microsoft account. I'm not sure how the user accounts have changed between windows 7 and 10. My local account does show as adminstrator.

I can copy to the hard drives in windows explorer, just not while saving a file from a browser. What's stopping me from using the drives normally?

hard drive full, but can<t find the item to erase

Windows 10 has the option to change the storage location. We suggest that you change the storage location so you can still use your hard drive instead of using the SSD. Kindly follow the steps below on how to change the storage location:

    • On the Search bar, type in storage and select the top most result.
    • On the Storage screen, change the location of each options to your desired hard drive. The files will now be saved on the specific hard drive.

  3. Windows 10 won´t start any program as Administrator

Hello. I´m having this issue since installed one of the latest Windows 10 system updates.

When I try to open any program that requires Administrator confirmation (that screen with the Yes/No question), this dialog won´t appear anymore. The screen background stays darkened and nothing happens.

    1. Using Windows 10 Home (x64)
    2. My microsoft user account is properly checked
    3. I´m the administrator of the PC
    4. Already tried do create another administrator user account - same problem, no success
    5. Cannot start any program/service that requires administrator authorization (not even regedit)
    Please help!

    Free hard drive backup/restore program?

I am looking for a free (freeware) program that will back up and restore a hard drive. I'm looking to clone a few external hard drives. If the program will backup the used space instead of the whole drive this will be awesome! Thanks for any suggestions.
