Windows 10: Windows 10 wont automatic repair my Acer Aspire 5560G ( unable to boot

run down of errors when i try to do automatic repair:


1.Troubleshoot>Reset this PC>Keep my files> = error: The drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again.

2.Troubleshoot>Reset this PC>Removes everything>= error:Unable to reset your PC. A required drive partition is missing.

3.Troubleshoot>Advance options>System restore>= error: System restore: To use System Restore, you must specify which Windows installation to restore. Restart this computer, select an operating system, and then select System Restore.

4. Troubleshoot>System Image Recovery>= error:Windows cannot find a system image on this computer. Attach the backup hard disk or insert the final DVD from a backup set and click retry. Alternatively close this dialog for more options.

5.Troubleshoot>Startup repair>= error: start up repair couldn't repair PC. Press advance to try other options to repair you PC or "shutdown" to turn off your PC. Log file:

6.Troubleshoot>Go back to the previous build>= Windows ran into a problem and wont be able to take you back to the previous build. Try resetting your current build instead(Troubleshoot > Reset this PC).

7. Install>Upgrade>Compatibility report: The computer started using the Windows installation media. Remove the installation media and restart your computer so that windows stars normally. Then, insert the installation media and restart the upgrade.

8.Install>Custom> We couldnt find any drivers. To get a storage driver, click load driver

when trying to load the USB it says no signed drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK



SO any tips on how to fix any of these. I just want to get my laptop running at this point and probably go back to windows 7. dont mind losing my files cus most were backed up

I don't have the option to recover from the drive.

 

You could try booting from Win10 installation media and running startup repair from there.

So currently my laptop wont boot win10 so I created the media and am booting win10 from a usb and the errors I previously listed are what I am getting. So even after booting I can't get windows 10 to recover or install it again it's not letting me so I don't know what else to try?

 

I'm having the same problem with the WindowsISO DVD. Reset can't be done. No error given though. Can't boot into Windows10 at all. Strange thing is that Recovery Options only list Windows7 as the Target. I upgraded from Win7 to Win10 two months ago. You think Windows10 is somehow gone?

When PC starts, shows the Win10 Logo and then just goes to a black screen. Only the mouse pointer works. It stays that way for hours. A little intermittent hard-drive light activity, but nothing else. Peripherals work, but it never gets past eh black screen, and Recovery options (Reset, Restore, etc.) on the ISO DVD I made last month, all error out. Weird. I might have to do a full re-install that wipes out everything. Will only do so as a last resort however. Will keep searching forum and internet for answers. (Typing this from a laptop)

 

If you got that after some updates, new drivers/application installation, then you could try returning to a previous working restore point. If starting System Restore with the DVD-ROM doesn't work, try using the recovery CD-ROMs from this post. Booting with one of these, you start a Windows 10 or 8.1 live CD with tools to recover your PC. I don't remember exactly which tools are included, but there should be one to load a restore point. In worst case, using that you can backup all your data to another disk and then format and clean-install Windows 10.

 

Thankyou SPapaKons. I tried several things, but ended up reinstalling the 2009 version of Windows7, letting it go through a ton of updates and then upgrading to Windows10. The back-up was 34gb, so I opted out. Lost 5 years of "stuff", but of course, this HP PC is faster now. Gotta look on the bright side.

 

If the data lost wasn't important, then why not?
