Windows 10 won't install from newly created USB recovery drive

    Hello there.

I chose to give my PC a complete reset, erasing everything on both my SSDs. But first I created a recovery drive with an USB stick. Problem is, after it has completely erased everything it won't install from the USB stick. This is what happens:

    1. Put in USB and turn on PC.
    2. I choose keyboard layoutand then get to the menu with the options recover, troubleshoot and turn off PC.
    3. I choose recover and it goes to the screen "recovering your PC".
    4. At about 60-70% it changes the screen to a message saying "there was a problem reseting your computer. No changes were made".

I've tries 6-7 times now. I've tries disconnecting my secondary SSD, but didn't do anything. I have no idea what to do now. What has usually been a pretty straightforward task of reseting my PC has now turned out to me being clueless how to fix this.

Anyone have possible solutions for this?

    Best regards, Sune.

    :)

Windows 10 won't install from newly created USB recovery drive

Installing windows off of a USB stick

    Step By Step from vista:
    From admin cmd prompt

    1. diskpart
    1a. list disk
    2. select disk 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
    3. clean
    4. create partition primary
    5. select partition 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
    6. active
    7. format fs=fat32
    8. assign
    9. exit

Copy Windows Vista's DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (d being your vista cd and e being your usb stick)

And that's it, boot off your usb disk
