Windows 10: Windows 10 won't let me set a default app as a .wav player

Hello,

I need to know why the third party program Downloaded from Microsoft edge Called "Media Player Classic" Won't be set as a .wav player. This app can play .wav files.

Why can't i get the option to set a default app myself?

I'm not familiar with the syntax that you may be using, but does it include the executable name? If so, just replace the VLC executable with wmplayer.exe.

If the goal is to change the default player for .wav files, follow these steps:

1) Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Default apps > Choose default app by file type
2) Locate .WAV in the list and select the app to be used to open this type of file by default.

 

Windows 10 keeps resetting my Default Programs for .wav and internet.

For now let’s try simple troubleshooting steps and check if this helps in resolving the issue. Follow the below steps.

  On the Windows search bar type default program and select
  Default Program.
  
• 
  Click on Default app and click on
  Choose default app by file type.

  Locate for the .wav, click next to it and select
  Windows media player.

Can't open .wav files, some .mp3's with Windows 10 Creators Update

Checking some sound settings may help resolve the issue. First, let's set Windows Media player to be the default program for WAV files to see if it helps. Follow the steps below:

• Open Settings.
  
• Click Default apps, then select Choose default apps by file type.
