Windows 10: Windows 10 won’t let me sign in

When my new laptop arrived I went through settings to turn off internet connection. I wanted to bumble around getting used to the screens without worrying about viruses etc. I made no other changes and obviously couldn’t download anything new.

Today when I clicked on sign in it said “It doesn’t look like you’re connected to the internet. check your connection and try again.” The only 2 options it gives me are Retry or Cancel.

So how am I supposed to reconnect when I can’t get to the settings? None of the keys do anything. The windows/start key does nothing. There is no task bar.
If I click on the internet icon all it will let me do is turn flight mode on or off. Tried that Didn’t make any difference. And the ease of access icon doesn’t appear to help me in any way.

I didn’t even have a chance to enter an email address or password so it’s not as though that is the problem.


please can any one help a completely dazed and confused little old lady? Thank you.

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: Run Windows app troubleshooter.

Refer to the below link:

Step 2: Run shell commands for Windows store and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X and select
  Command prompt(Admin) to open elevated Command prompt.
  
• 
  Type the following commands.
  
  
  
  powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.xml
  
• 
  Hit enter, the blackscreen will appear still for a couple of seconds. After a couple of second a new line saying C:\.... will appear.
  
• 
  Close Command Prompt.
  
• 
  Try to start the Windows Store again.
