  2. Crimson Skies error message oxc0000022

I believe ( I've don't have it myself ) that 'Crimson Skies' is an old game that uses 'SafeDisc' or similar. If so, then it will not run on W10 by default.

See " Windows 10 won’t run games that employ SafeDisc or certain versions of Securom DRM, rendering hundreds of old disc-based games potentially unplayable without complex workarounds. Games which used
these forms of DRM range from Crimson Skies to ........"

( and other places, just search the web for more similar articles ).

I've not got the game to try, only found by a search.

If you look you may find a version that does not use SafeDisc for resale, or you may find a No CD patch. But obviously, only try them from known safe/genuine websites. More info here - https://www.howtogeek.com/230773/ho...-securom-drm-on-windows-10-8.1-8-7-and-vista/

  3. Upgraded to Win10, now weird error with Civilization 4

The game itself is compatible with Windows 10, but only with downloaded copies from such as Steam since Steam uses more modern DRM.

The retail disc version uses safedisc or securom as DRM method. And Microsoft told that safedisc and securom would not be working in Windows 10.

Also, take a look here: SECDRV.SYS Not Loading in Windows 10; this will break thousands of older games.

    Edit:

Regarding the game not working on Win 8.1

People are going to complain about it, but it's actually a good thing. Both of those DRM schemes opened up security holes.

The good news is that most games that used to use them have either had them patched out or are available in alternate versions (Steam/GOG etc) that don't use those DRM schemes.
