Windows 10: Windows 10 Wont Update

Hi,New to the Forum am reaching out with an issue with windows updating. so for a bit of back story, recently I noticed that windows updates was pending a restart so I attempted to do so. once my pc rebooted i noticed the same indicator was still present - so i attempted again; no luck. i decided to do some research and found a 'solution"the suggested method was going into C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution and deleted the most recent folders there, which would contain the updated files. After doing so the pending restart indicator did indeed go away, but when I attempted to update again i was

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
