Windows 10: Write performance of MS Storage Space

I have a storage space that consists of two internal Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM008 drives. They are set up as a single drive with no redundancy. If I copy files from this I get about 200 MB/s performance. When I write to this space I get about 40 MB/s performance.Task Manager shows Disk % at 3-50%. CPU at 2%. Memory at 20% of 64GB.No other apps are running. GoodSync copy to this drive says it will take ~21 hours to copy 3.3TB of data.Is this what I should expect? Thanks

    :)

How to remove a bad drive in Windows 10 storage spaces pool

Could someone list the steps involved in replacing a bad drive from a Windows 10 storage spaces pool? I cannot find any info on the Microsoft support site that is specific to Windows 10. Also, could you list the steps to remove a 'good' drive and replace
it with another drive if the process is different?

  3. External Drive using storage spaces does not work on my new Win 10 PC?

    Hi Leo,

Storage Spaces not only increase storage over time as you add drivers to your PC, it will also help you in protecting your data from drive failures. To isolate your concern, we'd like to know if you were getting any error messages when trying
to connect the external drive to your new PC. Also, can you tell us what troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

In the meantime, we suggest that you run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter to perform a diagnostic process on your system that will check and fix issues related to Storage Spaces. To do this, please follow the steps below:

    • Type troubleshooting in the Search bar, then press
      Enter.
    • Click View all from the left pane.
    • Locate and click Hardware and Devices to run the troubleshooter then follow the next steps.

Furthermore, here is a link for more information about the Storage
    Spaces in Windows 10
    .

We'll be looking forward to your response.

  4. Windows 10: Write performance of MS Storage Space

Any way to downgrade ver. of MS Storage spaces volume w/o data loss?

    1. Install Windows 1607 & 1709 dual boot system
    2. Connect two free disks
    3. Boot into 1607
    4. Create storage pool, assign two free disks, create two-way mirror volume
    5. Copy data to new volume
    6. Reboot into 1709
    7. Upgrade your Storage Space pool to gain new features as MS suggests
    8. Reboot into 1607
    9. Your Storage Space configuration looks now as in the picture, volume is inaccessible
    10. Notice that doing step 7 was not the smartest idea, data are now accessible only from Windows 1709.

Question: Is it possible to simply revert Storage Spaces metadata back to version 1607? Answer: No. It is necessary to backup data, destroy upgraded pool, create new pool & mirror in Windows 1607, and restore data.

Is it so hard to understand what necros asks for?
