Windows 10: Windows 10

I updated my windows a year or so ago when it was free to do so. I set up an administrators account at that time but have subsequently lost the password. Since then I have been working on another account I set up but cannot download anything on this account. This has been very inconvenient but I have managed up to now. However since the latest Microsoft update I cannot use my printer even though the diagnostic says everything is ok including the drivers. I have tried unplugging all cords and replugging, turning off the printer and the computer but these do not work. I have the original discs from when I bought my printer and I am also able to download the drivers etc from the brother website but because I cant download I am unable to do this. I have researched this problem several times without any success so I am now resorting to taking my windows back to factory settings. However I need to know what backups I need to make and if I will lose any of the apps I am using.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
