Windows 10: Windows 10’s Mail app for Insiders is getting a update with new features

Microsoft is today rolling out a new update for Windows 10’s Mail app with new features and Improvements. The Mail app has been updated to version 16006.10228.20108.0, brings new features only to Windows insiders for the time being, but in the coming weeks, it should become available for everyone else as well.

In the changelog, Microsoft explains Mail for Windows 10 now supports ink that lets you take notes on pictures or add a drawing using a pen or your finger. You’ll find this finder under the Draw tab in the ribbon.

Microsoft says that you can insert a drawing Canvas from the ribbon anywhere in your email to add a sketch and annotate the pictures. Furthermore, you can now use ink effects like galaxy, rainbow, and rose gold colored pens. You can find the official changelog below.

“These features are made available first to participants in the Windows Insider program. If you’re not a member of the Windows Insider program, you’ll see these features rolled out in the next few weeks,” Microsoft explains.

You can also use your fingers or even mouse to use the drawing feature.

“This feature works best with any pen that supports Windows Ink. No pen? No problem. Just choose Draw with Touch in the Draw tab of the ribbon to start using ink with your finger,” the company explains.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
