Windows 10: Windows 11 2 displays with 2x2 KVM - all active windows move to Display 1

Laptop with USB3 docking station connected to 2x2 DP KVM to 2 Monitors. When I switch to system #2 and then go back to the laptop. all active windows move back to display #1. Display #2 still active, i just need to move the windows back... I think what is happening is that when I switch over to system 2, system 1 Laptop thinks there are no external displays. Display 1 Not Active

As of Wednesday this week, the 19th, one of displays is not functioning properly after a windows update. The display goes black and not able to connect via display port but HDMI works fine. I check the settings and it reads the monitor as connected but not
active, Display Setting -> Advanced Display Settings -> Choose Display 1 and reads "Display 1: Connected to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980TI, Display isn't active." It was not like this prior to updating on the 19th and was working as intended. Like is said before,
HDMI works fine just not display port and it is a 144hz monitor and is frustrating that I cannot use it as intended.

Troubleshooting Steps Attempted:

• Reinstalled Drivers multiple times, both old and new
• Wiped display drivers and installed old driver then updated to recent driver
• Swapping cables between monitors and testing other cables
• Ordered new Display Port cables and issue persists

new KVM switch wouldn't display on monitor

Just got a new kvm switch to connect my two cpus but it won't bring out displays...
Would put up a pic of the monitor interface in the morning.
Suggest ions please...

 

Display 1 not swappable with Display 2. Why?

Hi Raven,

You can choose from the list of monitors, which screen you want to make as your main display. To do so, please follow the steps below:

• Right-click on your desktop, then select Display settings.
• Under Customize your display, select which screen you want to make as the main display.
  
• Check Make this my main display, then click Apply.
