Windows 10: Windows 11 24h2 update completely broke webcam passthrough and probably USB in general via RDP

Hi all, as the title states i can't find a way to get the integrated webcam and actually ANY USB WEBCAM passed to any of the 24h2 machines i RDP to. This started only after the 24h2 update of windows 11 with any USB/integrated camera while i'm connected via RDP. this happens since the 24h2 earliest update, the one forced by microsoft and then retired. no matter what i tried the passthrough of the webcam to a 24h2 guest via RDP is completely broken. in some VMs i connect using Citrix, and i've contacted their support but they can't do much since it's a 24h2 RDP issue.with citrix support we ob

USB Passthrough - RDP


I am trying to think of a way to have an iPhone hooked up to a remote computer with USB and have it show on my computer in file explorer. Is there a script I can write to have this done? I am able to do RDP, Teamviewer or even Windows Remote Assistance to connect to the remote computer. If you have any suggestions let me know.

There are no currently listed problems resetting version 24H2 of Windows 11 and no specific steps you need to perform, are you experiencing any problems with that insider build that is causing you to perform a Windows reset?

 

Nested Webcam RDP Redirection

Hello,

I have created a VM on my Windows 10 machine and have been able to RDP into the VM and my hardware webcam passes into the VM through RDP well. The camera shows up in the VM Device Manager as 'Remote Desktop Camera devices' > 'HOST-PC - HD WebCam'.

Next, on the VM that I am RDP'd into, I open another remote desktop connection to another external PC. I am able to connect to this PC by RDP fine, but the Webcam object does not pass through from the VM to the external PC. When I check in the Remote Desktop
Connection options, under the Local Resources tab, and click on 'More', I do not see the 'HOST-PC - HD WebCam' device listed under Video capture devices on the VM, even though it is listed in Device Manager.

Is there a way to get Windows to treat this redirected camera as a local camera so that it can be further redirected to a third machine?

Another way to ask my essential question - can you pass a camera through multiple nested RDP sessions?
