I've run into a huge problem. First, my win11 went to a blue screen out of nothing no specific installation process was involved with something like "This device has run into a problem, doing a disc check-up". After checking up everything it could load was a black block screen with no further response it could unblock and block again.Therefore, I boot it into "other option" mode that gives an option to reinstall OS. I have reinstalled Win11 with an option to save personal files only. After this, a huge issue with files and access has started. I was not able to run any app except for Micro

Need Help Resolving 'Access Denied' Error on External Hard Drive

I am reaching out for assistance with resolving an 'Access Denied' error that I'm experiencing on my external hard drive. I have tried a couple of troubleshooting steps, but the issue persists, and I'm seeking further guidance.

Firstly, I attempted to resolve the problem by running the Error Checking tool, but unfortunately, it did not provide a solution. Then, I decided to reboot into Safe mode on my Windows 11 system. Surprisingly, I was able to access my files without any difficulties while in Safe mode. However, the problem resurfaced when I tried to fix the 'Access Denied' issue and rebooted back into normal mode.

As a further troubleshooting step, I reran the Error Checking tool on the external hard drive, and it reported no problems or errors. This leaves me uncertain about the exact cause of the access denied error.

One solution I have considered is entering Safe mode, copying the data from the external hard drive, and then formatting it. However, I must mention that I do not have any alternative external drives to back up the data.

I kindly request your expertise and advice on how I can successfully resolve the 'Access Denied' error and regain access to my external hard drive. Are there any alternative solutions or steps that I should try?

Access denied for internal secondary drive

Hi All,

I have a laptop running windows 10. A few weeks ago it started coming up with an error message on startup about recycle bin is corrupt on D:\ (my secondary drive). I now get access denied whenever I try to open the files/folders on the drive and am losing
will to live as this drive has all of my work and family photo's etc... on.

• I have downloaded the take ownership tool and it is saying access denied.
• Tried changing the drive owner on security and it wont let me as it says access denied (current owner is listed as SYSTEM).
• Tried changing the security groups and privileges and it won't let me, access denied.
• Admin has full control privileges and so I enabled the windows admin account (net user administrator /active:yes) and logged in but that still says access denied. My account is also an admin account but still access denied.
• Tried switching onedrive off as heard that can cause an issue and no luck.
• Tried using local account rather than Microsoft account and still access denied.
• Tried a reset of the PC, still no luck

I really am at a loss now and don't really want to have to take it to a computer shop to get them to try and retrieve.

The laptop was originally on windows 7 but upgraded to windows 10 fine. I am struggling as cannot find any other solutions on the internet, anyone go any ideas.

Second Internal Hard Drive Access Denied After Update

After the most recent update, I am getting error that prevents me from accessing my second internal hard drive that was working fine prior to the update. I am using an account with administrative privileges.

"Location is not available

F:\ is not accessible.

Access is denied."

This drive is a 6 TB WD Blue drive. It is 3 months old. S.M.A.R.T. readings are "Good".

I CAN access the drive on the same user account when I boot into safe mode. The files are fine and I can copy them over, but 3TB used out of the 6 TB total are hard to copy over when I have no other drives of that size.

I have tried:

- I've tried setting permissions, taking ownership, and I checked effective access and it tells me I should have access to it.

- I can access my third internal hard drive.

- I have tried changing the drive letter and labels. This does not change anything

- I tried rolling back the update but the damage is done.

- I made a second administrator account and tried accessing it on that one and I could not, even after adding privileges.

Any help is appreciated. I need access to this drive.
