Windows 10: Windows 11 all shortcuts to folders open the "desktop" folder.

I have a new windows 11 computer about 2 months now. I create shortcuts on my desktop to folders I use regularly. No problems until today. I click a shortcut on the desktop to open the folder and it briefly flashes the desired folders contents, but then quickly opens the "desktop" in a files explorer window. I can see all the shortcuts that are on my desktop in there and if I click on one of the shortcuts it DOES open the correct folder displaying my content. I made a new file folder on my desktop and put all the shortcuts in the new folder, and they do open the proper folders like they shou

Hi,

i have created many folders on my destop. Today I decided to move them to their correct location in "Documents" and replace them with shortcuts on the desktop. (Some had aldeady been done., or a shortcut had already been created, linked to the folder in"documents").

This is what I did:

1. Moved the folder from Destop to Documents

2. Created a shortcut, withiin Documents, to the folder

3. Dragged the shortcut to the Desktop.File

I repeated this for all the folders on my desktop.

I now find that, when I click on the destop link, instead of the required folder opening, File Explorer opens with the required folder highlighted

I have tried creating the shortcut directly on the Desktop, but it does the same thing.

Why are my shortcuts opening the folder location, not the actual folder?

not able to open any folders due to Shortcut folders in Windows 11

Hi Support,

I am using Windows11 Professional Operating System.

I have so many shortcut folders in my Desktop.

I am not able to open any of the shortcut folders.

I have scanned the system and no virus were found.

Please guide me how to open the shortcut folders or how to remove the shortcut folders in windows 11.

Even I am not able to open My Computer in the desktop icon.

Thanks for the links. I checked each one and played with Onedrive, but the problem didn't go away. However, I have found out why myoriginal problem - windows 11 Desktop shortcuts opens folder location, not the folder.- is happening: View/Show/Navigation Pane was turned On! If I turn it off, the dsplay reverts to how I expected.
