  1. Windows 11 alt + F4 "shut down" changed to "change user" when an update is pending

When i want to turn off my computer using the window open by alt + F4, normally the default option is a simple "shut down", BUT when there is a windows update waiting for restart, it for some god forsaken reason defaults to "change user".Why is it that in windows 10 the default was "shut down" and when it needed to update it defaulted to "update and shut down".Its really infuriating especially because it makes no sense at all.Who would want to shut down normally BUT where there is update for it to change user???What is the logic behind it?Why isnt it a simple "update and shut down" like it was

    :)

Alt-F4 change back to close window

Alt+F4 will shut down whatever app/window currently has focus. If that is a window for an app then that app will close, bringing up it's closing dialog if needed (eg Notepad's 'Do you want to save changes.....?' prompt).

But if you first click on an empty part of your Desktop or Taskbar before using Alt+F4 then the 'app' that currently has focus is the Windows UI (user interface) - and asking that to close down will bring up the Windows UI closing dialog....

So just make sure that you have clicked on the window that you want to close before using Alt+F4 and it should work as you expect.

  3. Alt + F4 for shut down for an update, windows 11

Usually I use ALT+F4 to shut down my PC, but in windows 11, when an update is required, I can no longer use the ALT+F4 shut down menu to actually shut down or restart the PC. I have to use the windows menu -> power -> and then I can choose "update and shut down" or "update and restart".

After Windows has been updated, then there's is no issue with the ALT+F4 to shut down or restart

Alt-F4 change back to close window

Idk what happened to alt-f4 that it changed to shut down/change user menu, but I want it back as close window. I dont want to use AHK just for 1 hotkey, and afaik win10 does not have a way to change/edit windows hotkeys without editing the registry. So, what can i do to edit the F-keys to change or create shortcuts? (like changing alt-f4 back to close window)
